Klimt Prints & Posters
Gold leaf, patterned robes and figures absorbed in their own world: Gustav Klimt turned ornament into emotion. Our Klimt Prints & Posters include a detail from The Kiss, his best-known painting, and Allegory of Sculpture from 1889, an early work that already reveals his taste for classical figures and decoration.
In 1897, Klimt co-founded the Vienna Secession, a group of artists who broke away from academic tradition and took decorative art as seriously as painting. The Kiss, painted between 1907 and 1908 at the height of his “Golden Period”, has been on display at Vienna’s Belvedere ever since. Klimt Prints & Posters capture the enduring appeal of his work.
Klimt’s work suits warm interiors: deep greens, dark wood, brass and velvet. A single print above a bed or console is usually enough to add a soft glow to the room. For more art from the same era, explore our Art Nouveau and Mucha collections.
Two: a detail from The Kiss, his most famous painting, and Allegory of Sculpture from 1889, an early work that already shows his taste for classical figures and ornament.
