A flower-covered slope, mostly in white and pale pink, is dotted with blue cornflowers and touches of red. Above it, a thick band of green bushes and trees rises towards the hilltop. There’s no sky; Klimt fills the entire square canvas with the garden.
Created in 1916, during his final summer at the Attersee, this is one of Klimt’s later landscapes. The brushwork feels freer than in his earlier garden scenes, with swift strokes and flashes of bright green that seem to shift across the surface. The painting is held at the Kunsthaus Zug in Switzerland.
Its soft, fresh palette suits a bedroom or a naturally lit dining room, whether in a London flat or a country home. We offer several print sizes, with a choice of frame. Discover more gardens and lakes in our Klimt landscape prints.
