Seen from afar, it resembles a cloud of green and blue, dotted with flecks of yellow and orange. Up close, a fruit tree comes into view, its trunk rooted in the grass and white and pink roses gathered around its base.
Klimt painted this square canvas around 1905. Its story reaches beyond the scene itself: in 1938, its Austrian owner, Nora Stiasny, was forced to sell it, and she was later murdered in the Holocaust. The painting hung at the Musée d'Orsay for decades, before France returned it to her heirs in 2022.
Gentle and full of light, this print suits a bedroom, living room or home office, adding a touch of green to interiors from London flats to country homes. Choose from several sizes, with a frame available as an option. It sits alongside the Pear Tree and other orchard scenes in our Gustav Klimt prints and posters.
