A serious, darkly drawn woman’s face in profile sits within a black square, crowned by a golden spiral. Two tall figures in flowing robes stand on either side, rendered in fine grey lines beneath leafy branches. At the bottom, elegant capitals spell out a single word: JUNIUS.
Here is June as Klimt pictured it in 1896 for Allegorien, a series of allegorical designs published by Gerlach & Schenk in Vienna. Aged 34, he was still working largely as a decorator, combining the classical style he had studied with the graphic flair that would soon become a hallmark of the Secession.
Understated and refined, this design pairs cream, black and gold, and sits comfortably in an office, bedroom or library, from a London flat to a country home. The poster is available in several sizes and can be framed. Explore our Klimt prints and posters, including another delicate drawing, Nuda Veritas.
