Black, white, black, white. Pleated like a paper fan.
This close-up of tiered balconies turns concrete into graphic art. Each slab tilts at an angle, while the shadow below creates a bold black chevron. Repeated three or four times, the motif could sit comfortably in an op art exhibition from the 1960s.
There’s no sky, window or obvious sense of scale. Your eye simply traces the zigzag up and down. It’s one of the most abstract prints in our brutalist architecture wall art collection, linking architecture with modern art.
Its crisp lines suit a minimalist interior, hallway or creative studio. Team it with a geometric rug or simple furniture and let the design take centre stage, whether in a London flat or a home elsewhere in the UK. The poster is available in several sizes.
Architects of the era enjoyed turning balconies into sculptural forms like this. Discover more about the striking geometry of brutalist buildings.
