The village and its church are seen across the river, all bathed in a violet and pink light. The houses glow softly on the green hillside, and the whole scene is reflected in water that has become a mirror of lilac and gold.
Twenty years after leaving Vétheuil, Monet went back in 1901 and painted the village again from the bank at Lavacourt, in a small series. His style had changed: the details are gone, and what remains is a harmony of colours, close to his London views painted the same year.
Poetic and soft, it suits a bedroom, a living room or a reading corner. Compare it with the Vétheuil views of 1880 in our Claude Monet art prints. Our article on Monet tells why he returned to the places of his past. Square format, several sizes.
