The Sofa (c. 1894–1896) by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec Poster

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec transforms a quiet moment into a scene full of theatre. Two women relax on a green sofa, sketched in swift, assured strokes and brightened with chalky whites. Ochre, moss green and pale lilac lend the scene a warm, lived-in feel, while the textured background keeps it grounded. The landscape format gives the room a more relaxed feel. Angled legs lead the eye, a lavender dress contrasts with inky stockings, and gentle highlights connect the figures with their surroundings. This balance of line and colour sits well with natural wood, linen and stone. Hang it low above a sofa, add it to a Belle Époque gallery wall, or display it on its own for a quieter touch. Available in several sizes, this poster can be scaled to suit your wall, whether in a London flat or a country home.
