Roses everywhere, pink and red, painted in big swirling strokes that fill the canvas from edge to edge. Behind them, almost hidden, the pink house and a strip of deep blue sky. Greens, magentas and blues mix so freely that the picture seems to vibrate.
In his last years at Giverny, Monet painted his own house from the garden, half buried in the roses he loved. His eyes had been operated on for cataracts, and the colours he saw had changed. These late canvases, wild and generous, were long ignored before painters of the 1950s rediscovered them.
Bold and modern, it gives energy to a living room, a bedroom or an entrance. Our Monet prints and posters include the house and garden painted at other moments of his life. Read our article on Monet's last years. Several sizes, framed or not.
