Set this basket beside the dark Dutch still lifes he painted a few years before, and you can see how Paris altered his work. Here, the mood is entirely lighter.
A round wicker basket brims with apples in shades of gold, orange and green. Behind it, pale yellow and blue brushstrokes seem to circle the basket, giving the impression that the table is turning gently. Fine brown and red lines trace the weave. In the lower left corner is the signature: Vincent 87. The subject is simple, yet the colour and movement bring it to life.
It suits a kitchen, breakfast room or light-filled dining room, adding the warmth of an autumn afternoon to homes across the UK. Order it as a poster in the size that works for you.
