A façade like a patchwork quilt, with every panel a slightly different shade of grey.
This building is clad in a patchwork of concrete slabs, some pale, some dark, and others marked by the weather. Just beneath the roof, a row of pointed fins juts out like teeth, casting slanted shadows across the wall. A lower section projects forwards, with a hollow space at its centre. Bare branches reach into the bottom of the frame.
Its weathered surface is what makes it so compelling. The building was probably all one shade when it was first built. Decades of rain and sunshine have given it a richer, more textured appearance, much like the patina found on older buildings across the UK.
The landscape format works well above a desk or console table. Its mid-tone shades are easy to pair with warm colours such as terracotta, ochre or olive. Available in a range of sizes.
If you love texture, explore more in our brutalist architecture wall art. And if you have ever wondered why brutalism embraced raw, unfinished surfaces, our article on béton brut has the answers.
