Dark rocks rise on both sides of a narrow inlet, their surfaces painted in purple, brown and dark green. Between them, the sea is a churning mass of green and blue strokes, flecked with white. Higher up, rocky islets stand out against a cloudy grey and pink sky.
Port-Goulphar is a small cove on Belle-Île. Monet painted it several times during his stay in 1886, sometimes tying his easel down against the wind. It was also on the island that he met the critic Gustave Geffroy, who would become his friend and first biographer.
Wild and dramatic, its upright format suits a hallway, an office or a bathroom. Our Monet posters include the other Belle-Île views. For more about this stay in Brittany, see our article on Claude Monet. Several sizes.
