Cat and Goldfish Bowl turns a peaceful corner by the window into a playful little scene. A lemon-yellow cat arches over a glass bowl, one paw dipping into green water as two scarlet fish circle. A cobalt-blue table, a red wall scattered with blue leaf shapes and a leafy garden beyond the window complete the picture. Flat areas of colour, clean outlines and bold contrasts give the composition plenty of life.
We draw on the spirit of Fauvism, pairing simplified shapes with confident colour choices. It’s a gentle nod to the delight in Matisse’s studio, without quoting any of his paintings.
