Job (1896) by Alfons Mucha – Art Print

In his celebrated Job poster, Alphonse Mucha transforms an everyday product into a theatrical scene. A serene muse raises a cigarette while ribbons of smoke drift across oversized lettering, her hair flowing in intricate, curling lines. Earthy plum and tobacco shades meet olive green, picked out with warm gold outlines and a flash of crimson in her hairpiece. An ornate border frames the image like a jewelled box, showcasing the decorative linework of a master of Art Nouveau. We’re drawn to the way the composition sets lush curves against clean geometry. Its palette gives a room a sense of calm without making it feel subdued, while the languid pose lends an easy, slightly decadent air. It sits beautifully alongside walnut, brass or a deep green accent. Available in several sizes, this poster is easy to place in a living room, hallway or studio, from a London flat to a country home.
