A tall bunch of small yellow flowers with dark hearts rises from a white vase, the stems leaning and crossing in every direction. The vase stands on a round red table, surrounded by a ring of the plant's knobbly tubers. The background is a soft, broken grey-mauve.
Jerusalem artichokes, topinambours in French, grow tall and bloom in late summer like small sunflowers. Monet picked them in his garden at Vétheuil in 1880 and turned a humble vegetable into a bouquet. The painting is in the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
Bright and a little rustic, it suits a kitchen, a dining room or an entrance. Our Monet posters include his other flowers of the Vétheuil years, from sunflowers to chrysanthemums. For more about those years, read our article on Claude Monet. Several sizes, with an optional frame.
