In late autumn, the trees stand bare and fallen leaves blanket the lawn. Beyond them, a long block of flats stretches so far it disappears beyond both edges of the frame.
Rounded corners soften the vast façade. Air conditioning units, balconies, curtains and closed shutters give each flat its own character. At ground level, a line of shops and entrances brings the building back to a more human scale.
There’s a quiet, almost wistful quality to this photograph. It’s a reminder that brutalist estates are more than experiments in concrete. They’re places where people grow up, return from work and watch the seasons pass from the same window, much like homes across the UK.
The landscape format works well above a bed or sofa, while its muted greys sit comfortably alongside natural materials such as wood and linen. Choose from several sizes.
