Concrete outlasts the plans made for it. This abandoned arcade is proof.
A succession of angular arches stretches into the distance, each one slightly smaller than the last, before the passage fades to a bright point. Graffiti covers the walls, with tag after tag layered over one another, while rubble and fallen leaves litter the floor. Nature and street artists have both claimed the space.
This is the rawest print in our brutalist architecture collection, and one of its most absorbing. The repeated frames form an almost flawless perspective, the sort photographers might wait years to discover. Its appeal lies in the clash between precise geometry and unruly marks across the walls.
We can picture it in a loft, a teenager’s bedroom, a studio or a creative workspace. It suits any room that could do with a little edge, from a converted warehouse in Manchester to a modern London flat. The poster is available in several sizes.
Ruins like this reflect brutalism’s complex legacy, caught between neglect and rediscovery. Discover how concrete went from villain to comeback story.
