The horizon is set high, leaving most of the scene to the land: furrows, hedgerows, a farmhouse nestled among the trees and a dark cypress on the right. The brushstrokes shift direction from one field to the next, drawing your eye across the slope. Red appears only in small touches, which makes it all the more striking.
