The gambler's punishment - Detail from The Garden of Earthly Delights - Poster

A tangle of limbs, a doorway resembling a trap and a blue shield enclosing a tiny hand. This poster centres on a compelling detail from the right panel of The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch. Honeyed ochre sits alongside smoky brown and inky black, punctuated by a cool blue circle. Diagonal lines guide your gaze across the scene, while fine craquelure reveals the age of the original panel. In a British home, its intricate details bring a striking focal point to a study or sitting room.
