Textured pillars line the left, a low wall runs along the right and a tree stands at the far end.
This covered passage stretches straight ahead. Its rounded columns have a rough, hammered finish that catches the light, while the ceiling slabs form descending bands of shadow. Lines in the brick paving draw your eye towards a bright view of glass buildings and greenery, like a quiet corner of the city you might discover on a walk through London.
This coarse concrete finish was created by hammering the surface after it had set, a technique associated with Brutalist architecture. It gives the pillars an almost stone-like quality.
Calm and well-ordered, the scene feels inviting. It suits a hallway, home office or living room inspired by urban walks. The portrait format adds a sense of depth.
Available in several sizes, this print sits alongside other covered walkways and passages in our Brutalist architecture posters. You can also read about how estates such as the Barbican were designed around walkways.
