Is it a letter, a magnet or a horseshoe? In fact, it’s a pillar.
Below a low concrete ceiling, a U-shaped support rises from the floor. Its inner curve is cloaked in shadow, while soft light falls across its outer face. Another block stands to the left, with the rest of the scene fading into darkness. The concrete is smooth, marked here and there by stains and scuffs.
This is brutalism at its most sculptural. The structure is shaped with such care that it becomes an artwork in its own right, echoing the modernist sculptural tradition.
From our collection of brutalist posters, this is one of the darkest images, yet also one of the most elegant. It suits a sitting room with dark walls, a home office or a bedroom with a minimalist feel, whether in a London flat or a country home.
The landscape format and striking contrast make it stand out from across the room. The poster comes in several sizes.
