Klimt worked on it for around three years, completing it in 1907. The Nazis seized it before it was held by the Austrian state. After a lengthy legal battle, it was returned to Adele’s niece Maria Altmann in 2006, a story later told in the film \u003cem\u003eWoman in Gold\u003c\/em\u003e.
