Irises and their sword-shaped leaves fill the foreground, with a field of buttercups beyond. A line of trees and Arles rooftops sits beneath a muted green-grey sky. From a little further back, the scene takes on the look of a flag, with each band adding another sweep of colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe painting has a wonderful sense of space.
